Nomura Holdings, Inc. is a Japanese financial holding company, the member of Nomura Group. In 1925 Nomura Securities Co. was established in Osaka as a result of the demerger from Osaka Nomura Bank (at present Resona Bank). In 2001 Nomura adopted a holding company structure with the name Nomura Holdings, Inc. Nomura Securities was reorganized into a subsidiary. In September, 2008 it was announced that Nomura Holdings would acquire the assets of Lehman Brothers in the Europe, in the Middle East and Asia – Pacific region. The purchase of the latter unit cost $ 225 million. The company is headquartered in Tokyo.
